Who is SUPER★DRAGON?
SUPER★DRAGON (often shortened to “Supadora”) is a 9 member Japanese musical group. They were first formed in 2015 when the members were in their teenage years.
Since making their new start and “major debut” (now as legal adults!!!) in 2024, this group is now basically self-produced with every member involved creatively in different ways, from music making to choreography to graphic design and art. The group officially describe themselves as a "Mixture Unit", which is a fancy way of saying "alternative music group" or "creative collective", with an emphasis on a wide range of music genres.
The group was first formed in 2015 under the company STARDUST PROMOTION as part of the bigger music collective "Ebidan", where SUPER★DRAGON has unfortunately had an infamous history of subpar management and promotion, unfortunately remaining as one of the least known groups. In 2024, they would finally leave STARDUST to make their re-debut and pseudo-rebrand under their new record label, Pony Canyon, which has marked a new start for them with the release of their major debut album "SUPER X".
I heard these dragons are WOKE...🏳️🌈
You heard right 🌈
Where can I watch their concerts?
Legally: blu-rays, dvds, Japanese streaming services such as U-NEXT have many of their past concert recordings on there permanently. For arr matey methods, use the site that rhymes with uhhh milimili. You know the one... (if you don't feel free to shoot me an email or something!)
Who is Tahara-san?
Tahara-san (Tahara Hisanaga) was SUPER★DRAGON’s previous manager and music director from 2015, when the group was formed, up until April/May of 2022. He was a very crucial and important figure to the group who has been with them since the members were kids, and someone that they consider a father to them.
Tahara-san at SUPER★DRAGON’s 10th anniversary concert
In 2022, Tahara was transferred to a different group within STARDUST, Bullet Train. Losing Tahara-san affected the members greatly, and many of them look back on the time period as one of great pain and difficulty. Tsuyoshi has mentioned that there were talks about changing the group's name during this post-COVID period when the group was struggling internally. It is widely thought that Tahara-san is the “he” in Jean and Hayate’s verse in SUPER★DRAGON's auto-biographical song, “Funny Story”.
In a 2017 interview, Jean answered the question "who is your hero?” by saying "Tahara-san", elaborating that in the beginning, Jean wasn't very confident about rapping but was encouraged not to give up by him. Tsuyoshi relates a similar story, in which he had a lot of worries as a vocalist early on, but was supported unconditionally by Tahara-san. In an interview from the group's 10th anniversary photobook, when answering the question "When was the hardest you've ever cried in your life?" Tomoya and Koki answered, "the day Tahara-san left us". The majority of the members also answered the question "Who had the biggest influence on you in the past 10 years of SUPER★DRAGON's career?" by saying "Tahara-san".

Anything else I should know?
SUPER★DRAGON have always had a reputation for being the "bad kids" or "rebellious kids" of the industry (this has been self-stated). The members are also, surprisingly, all introverts (also self-stated). Most of them don't have any desire to fake a "typical" idol persona and are instead very real and true to themselves. While this unwillingness to conform is my favorite thing about them, it is probably a reason they sometimes don't work particularly well in the idol world specifically.
Despite making great music, SUPER★DRAGON is still a relatively unknown group, even within Japan, and my wish with this website is to convey their charm and make them known internationally, even outside of the idol world, as the boys themselves have also expressed this desire to reach more people globally! and also since their marketing team sure as hell isn't doing it
Member colours?
SUPER★DRAGON does not have official member colors like traditional j-idols do (probably because they’re not traditional idols). The group's overall image color is blue.

What are SUPER★DRAGON fans called?
The fan name is “BLUE” (dabadida).
For the longest time, the members were actually pretty adamant about not having a fan name. In 2021 however, they finally decided to make one, citing "wanting to reach more people and to strengthen their bonds with their fans" as a reason. The fan name was decided together with fans during the fan club only concert "18 EYES" in 2021. The name comes from the color of the penlights from the audience that would light up their concert venue.
